Kate Lawson
Kate moved to the UK from her home town of Durban, South Africa after her undergraduate studies. She completed her postgraduate legal qualification at BPP Law School in Holborn, London, and moved to a training contract at a large Kent Practice where she trained under the expert tutorship of Claire Singleton, a renowned specialist in employment law.
Kate worked with Sarah for 3 years in a large employment team at a major commercial regional practice in Tunbridge Wells, before building up her practice at the City office of a national specialist employment law practice. Kate was promoted to Head of the London office and Partner.
Kate has acted for a variety of clients including finance houses, national charities including GirlGuiding and the National Deaf Children's Society, an international freight company, a large Kent-based catering business and specialist private hospitals including The Horder Centre, as well as for senior executives in national and international companies.
Kate advises both employer and employees clients on a range of employment law issues. In particular Kate has a wealth of experience in providing advice to HR managers of SME's in respect of the handling of both day-to-day HR problems and major transitional issues such as TUPE transfers and collective redundacies. She has also advised a number of companies, including a catering company and a recruitment agency, in relation to complex TUPE issues involving companies in administration or liquidation.
Kate has successfully negotiated win-win exit packages for a number of very senior executive in the charity, finance and insurance sectors.
In respect of non-contentious aspects of HR and employment law, Kate has experience in drafting complex consultancy agreements for financial institutions and contracts for foreign companies starting up subsidiaries in the UK. Kate also lectured in law at BPP Law School and therefore has solid teaching experience enabling her to provide inspiring and useful management training on HR issues.
Kate is an advocate of workplace mediation as an excellent tool to tackle disputes in the workplace and, as an ADR accredited Workplace Mediator, she brings to the table a range of legal and personal skills to assist parties to find a solution.
Kate lives in Tunbridge Wells, Kent with her husband and enjoys travel, theatre and bookshops.

Sarah Bird
After completing her post graduate studies at Nottingham Law School, Sarah trained at a heavyweight regional practice in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
On qualifying Sarah built up a practice which included acting for an international shipping company, leisure transport company and specialist outdoor clot
hing business.
After a period of living and teaching English in Ecuador Sarah relocated to Nottingham where she worked for a prominent national firm.
Sarah advises both employers and employees on a range of employment issues. She is experienced in working closely with businesses assisting directors and HR professionals with day to day employment issues including drafting contracts and handbooks as well as longer term projects such as collective redundancies. Sarah also advises individuals both in respect of straight forward Compromise Agreements and complex high value exit negogiations for senior executives.
Having also trained and worked as a teacher of English as a foreign language, Sarah brings a wealth of training experience from which clients benefit in the form of workshops and seminars for HR professionals, directors and managers.
Sarah lives in Ruddington, Nottingham with her young family. She enjoys travelling, speaks Spanish and loves camping!
